Why You Should Learn to Silence Self Doubt

It’s been a long, long, fucking long, winter babes! I know we’re all feeling it, but let me tell you what I saw the other day; cherry blossoms on a tree, just starting to bud on the branch. Just like a lot of you baby artists out there! This is the most crucial time in your career because this is letting go of what held you in the dark and daring to blossom. Kick ass! That shit is TOUGH. You machos flexin’ can’t even talk like this doesn’t apply to you either because all artists have a soul. Okay?

Self-doubt can tear your world down and have you thinking it’s for the best. I think where a lot of artists are getting into a rut in today’s industry is when they go from stream to ocean. Stream being online music releases, youtube videos, etc. The ocean being live performances and tour life. Self-doubt before or after your first live performance could be a game-changer for your career. Self-doubt could prevent you from ever posting your first, second, 23rd track and then what? Self-doubt becomes self-truths and you may not agree with those you feel me?

You need self-doubt to keep you on your toes for sure. It helps you stay strong and best of all humble. But you will not go far in this world without learning to silence that part of you in moments it’s not necessary to hear. I got the aux for you sweet baby blossoms though so learn how to smash self-doubt with the below list.

1. Know the audience just wants you to have fun with them
Nobody wants to see you choke, they actually want to see you have fun and kill it like you know only you can.

2. Stop listening to people who bring you down
Because that’s literally all they be doing. Downers and negative people usually mean well by telling you to be cautious but all they do is make self-doubt stronger. If they mentally bring you out of your zen place, why would you listen to them on how to decorate your world? NUH UH.

3. Seek out advice from mentors or friends (like your friendly neighborhood Blow Up crew, holla!)

4. Practice your shit until it’s natural

5. Journal all the feels out!
I know some of you softies would paint in there too. *kiss*

6. Mantras are crucial
I’ll share one of mine: Do no harm, but take no shit

7. Stop comparing lanes
They’re not in this for the same reason and if they are, learn with them. Your satisfaction should be what you seek.

8. Take care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally.
When you feel healthy, solid, and rested; of course you won’t doubt for a second you’re a hustla out there just doing your thing. Tending to yourself creates a self-loving attitude and how can you hate on something you love right? It’s just science.

9. Unless you’re checking off number 3… DO NOT CARE WHAT THEY THINK

10. Take breathers when needed
*deep breath in* Inhale confidence, *deep breath out* exhale self-doubt
